Description

Published in Nare’s “Journals and Proceedings of the Arctic Expedition, 1875-6…” London, 1877.

A very good map of Discovery Harbour on Ellesmere Island from the British led expedition of Captain Nares in 1875. The expedition of two ships “HMS Discovery” and “HMS Alert” wintered in Discovery Harbour and Cape Sheriden respectively. Nares and naturalist Henry Feilden conducted considerable geological surveys in the area before having to return to England the subsequent year due to scurvy.
